Compromise is not a 4 letter word
The cool thing about the E. Harrison Street End Proposal (under review with SDOT) is that it deals with reality. Currently there is an aggressive south driveway (over 25% of the entire street end; 50% of the entrance footprint). The north homeowner owner has applied for a hammerhead driveway to their home. Yes, the entire parcel is a public land but there are homeowners to consider. A compromise is our best way out of this quagmire.
The plan transforms the entrance from being 100% focused on parking and driveways, to an entrance that balances driveways and public foot traffic into Hidden Beach. Homeowners get driveways, the public gets a safe and beautiful entrance, public parking moves from the street end to the street making room for trees and native plantings that everyone will appreciate. It’s a compromise that gets us out of a years long standstill. The street end is enhanced and sanctioned public encroachments allow for homeowner driveways.
SDOT, SDCI, beachgoers, homeowners — let’s get together and do this!
