Dollar Signs

The federal government shutdown has landed at Hidden Beach, effectively postponing the Oct 9 visit by the Army Corps of Engineers to assess the wetland status of E. Harrison Street End (aka Hidden Beach). When the federal budget is approved, we hope the visit will be rescheduled and the wetlands issue put to rest.

On the flip side, SDOT appears to be on speed dial for replacement of the new ‘no parking’ signs. After multiple vehicles backed into the precariously placed placard on a pole, SDOT has expeditiously placed a new sign in a less vehicle-trafficked location. It was a 2½ hour job. Our tax dollars at work.

Word on the street is that the SDOT employee who installed the latest sign was apologetic.

Fed funds frozen; City bucks flowing. No Parking sign, part deux.
