All clear: the dock is compliant 🏊

The "shocking" saga that launched a thousand emails has a happy ending.

The dock next door is now fully squared away. SDCI has inspected and signed off on the shore power and boat lift β€” no issues, no hazards, nothing to worry about. The warning sign has been updated too, and now matches the language required by the National Electrical Code β€” the same sign you'll find at the city-owned Leschi South Marina down the road. This kind of shock-hazard signage has long been standard at commercial marinas, and recent versions of the NEC now extend it to residential docks with shore power, so the sign is now to code.

The important thing for all of us: no version of the electrical code has ever included a 100-yard no-swimming zone β€” or any no-swimming distance at all. Swim where you always have.

Thanks to everyone who reached out to the agencies and helped move this along. The concerns were heard, the issues resolved, and Hidden Beach remains what it's always been β€” open water, open beach, open to all.
